Adriatik Lapaj in the Assembly. This is the main goal, and therefore the "Albania Becomes" movement has filed an official complaint with the Electoral College, opposing the decision of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS), which granted the mandate of MP in the Tirana district to the first candidate on the closed list, Ana Dajko.
In the document submitted to the Electoral College, this political force requests that the deputy's mandate be passed to Adriatik Lapaj, the candidate with the most votes through the open list, based on the resignations submitted by some of the candidates above on the closed list.
"Albania Becomes" argues that the will of the citizens has been clearly expressed through preferential voting and that this will should prevail over the predetermined ranking on the list.
"We demand that the fundamental principle of democratic representation be respected: the vote of the citizens. The preferential vote cannot be bypassed in favor of a formal ranking that no longer reflects the real will of the voters," the complaint states.
The case is expected to be reviewed by the Electoral College in the coming days, and the decision could set an important precedent for the way mandates are distributed in the current electoral system.
