Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted today through a post on social networks regarding the debates that have erupted around the new draft of the Penal Code, which has raised concerns and reactions for the restriction of freedoms. In his reaction, Rama chose an ironic tone towards those who have criticized the draft, describing them as exaggerated and oriented by political interests.
"Those alarmed by the draft of the new Penal Code and the legal silencing of freedom-loving political and media forces should perhaps be careful not to expose themselves too much to the sun," Rama writes, adding that this is a proposal by experts in the field, which aims to promote an open and democratic debate.
He emphasizes that the draft is presented to gather opinions and suggestions from the public, and does not constitute a final decision or authoritative action.
"The draft of the esteemed experts in the field has been presented publicly precisely to gather all opinions about it in the most democratic and transparent way possible," the Prime Minister writes.
Concluding his reaction, Rama emphasizes that the real problem of freedom in Albania, according to him, is not the draft or an imaginary regime, but the misuse of freedom by a part of public opinion and the media.
"Right now, the most serious problem facing freedom in Albania is neither the regime nor the draft of the new code, no, no, but the significant mass of those who use freedom only to make trouble and fuss about its absence????" - concludes Rama.
