The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Blendi Klosi, has questioned Ogerta Manastirliu's candidacy for the Tirana municipality. In an interview with "Shqipëria Live", Klosi said that it is not yet known whether Manastirliu will be a candidate, as there is still a year and a half until the local elections.
"Ogerta is the political leader of the Tirana district, the Tirana municipality. She has the duty to lead the Tirana Socialist Party. Will she be a candidate again? It will be a process that will take its time, a year and a half," he said.
Klosi also distanced himself from the decision to dismiss Veliaj, even though Prime Minister Edi Rama had publicly requested it. The former minister said that Veliaj's dismissal from the municipal council was a political decision.
"Veliaj is the mayor of Tirana. Thanks to this transformation we get votes, the story with the individual is another thing. Are there problems with Veliaj's removal from office? Of course there are. I was not part of the vote. His dismissal was a political decision," he said.
