Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has stated that within his group the issue of Sali Berisha's departure from the leadership of the Democratic Party has not been discussed at all. In an interview for News 24, he stressed that the sole focus of his meetings with the Democrats is the renewal of the party and the return of meritocracy. According to him, the Democratic Party in the current situation has no chance of winning, and the goal is for the Democratic Party to be the winner.
"This discussion has not been discussed. It is a discussion that could have been after the May 11 elections, none of us have asked for this until today. The goal is for the DP to be the winner, for me. As we are, the DP cannot win. We are at the goal. Should it be the winner? Yes. The DP should be the winner by breaking some columns that have damaged the party," he said.
Salianji sees the opposition as very inferior and needed not only a deep analysis, but also concrete measures for reorganization, analysis, and sharing of responsibilities for that defeat on May 11th.
"We will not only do an analysis, but we will also hold them accountable. Is there accountability or not? We need to do the analysis. Because we cannot take Messi and bring him to a weak team, because he cannot win," said the former MP, among other things.
He also said that after the analysis, functions should be divided, not held as primaries within the party and then the winners not running.
"Should the functions be divided, should we keep the primaries or not and if so, should we appoint those MPs? Should the party be renewed or not, should we give space to these people in the party, these should be discussed. The personal interest is for the DP to be the winner, the people who have sacrificed for the DP and have come out the most voted to be in the places they seek and deserve, the interest is for Rama to be overthrown, also because of the sentence. We must be in revolt", said Salianji.
