The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared this Tuesday that the opposition is completely withdrawing from the process of electing the People's Advocate, calling it a farce orchestrated by the majority.
Berisha said that the majority has played a shameful game, having initially publicly declared that it would leave this post to the opposition, but then added its own candidacy, that of Endri Shabani. According to him, the opposition has withdrawn signatures for candidacies that were not submitted by it.
He accused the chairman of the Laws Committee, Ulsi Manja, of refusing to recognize the withdrawal of signatures, while emphasizing that the Democratic Party had presented several serious candidacies, among them Besim Ndregjoni, Adriana Kalaja, Jola Hysaj and Aranita Brahaj.
Under these conditions, Berisha confirmed that the opposition will not participate in the vote for the People's Advocate in the Assembly, describing the process as shameful and unacceptable.
