Constitutional Court partially accepts request for judges' salaries, overturns part of 2023 law
The Constitutional Court of Albania has announced its decision on the issue of salaries of judges and prosecutors, partially accepting the request and repealing several provisions of Law No. 33/2023 as incompatible with the Constitution.
According to the decision, the first sentence of letter “a” of Article 1 and point 2 of Article 2 of the law amending the status of judges and prosecutors have been repealed. The Constitutional Court of Albania has forced the Albanian Parliament to adopt the necessary legal amendments by July 31, 2026.
The Court has determined that the effects of the repeal will enter into force at the moment the new legal amendments are adopted and, in any case, no later than July 31, 2026. The decision is final and enters into force on the day of publication in the Official Gazette.
