Negotiations to select the joint opposition candidate in the partial elections for the Municipality of Tirana, held at the Rogner Hotel, revealed an important change: for the first time, the Democratic Party has agreed to consider a name outside its political structures.
At the meeting, each party came with its own proposals. The Democratic Party, through Ilir Alimehmet and Belind Këlliç, proposed the name of Edlira Çepan, the wife of the late former DP MP, Gerti Bogdani. Meanwhile, the Opportunity Party, represented by Erald Kapri and Barbara Doda, offered the name of pedagogue Ermal Hasimja.
Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days, while both parties agree in principle that the candidate should not be part of the party structures, but differences still remain over the choice of a specific name.
