Former MP Ervin Salianji has responded to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who attacked him again today, saying that he is a descendant of Basha and has no connection to the PD. In the video posted on social networks where Berisha appears praising him, Salianji writes that the Democratic Party is not personal property and that he has no need to prove his connection to the party.
"The Democratic Party is not personal property nor an instrument to stifle dissent. It is the political home of thousands of democrats who have sacrificed for pluralism, for freedom and for confronting Edi Rama. The connection with it is not measured by stamps and declarations, but by attitudes, by real confrontation and by victory in the face of the corrupt regime," writes Salianji.
Salianji emphasizes that there is no need to prove his connection to the DP, while his contribution, struggles and sacrifices are known to few in the DP and are known to every democrat.
He adds that citizens today are not asking who is excluding whom, but why the opposition is not winning, why it is not inspiring, and why it is not organized as a governing alternative.
"Albania needs an opposition that wins, not an opposition that consumes energy in internal conflicts. It needs openness, reorganization, and leadership that unites, not narrows," says Salianji.
The MP warns that he will continue meetings with Democrats and will present a concrete platform to make the Democratic Party stronger, more open and more competitive.
