Erion Braçe's candidacy for Tirana Mayor could deprive Sali Berisha of an ally. This has been warned by the leader of the Agrarian and Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, who publicly stated that if the socialist MP decides to run, he will vote for him.
"If Brace decides to run, I will give him my vote. The party's logo also has votes. I declare, if Brace comes out, I will give him my vote, he is a man worth it. He has more experience and contribution than Rama in the SP. He is a man worth it, with greater experience and contribution than many others within the SP. He also has a good political sense," he said.
But Duka's statement is a wake-up call for his opposition ally, the Democratic Party, and Berisha himself, who, in this situation he finds himself in, with a party that still does not unite the democrats and with numerous exceptions, is risking losing political allies.
It remains to be seen how Berisha will react after Duka's statement: whether he will call him to make a better political offer in the local elections to change his mind, or whether he will "self-exclude" him, just as he did with the Democrats within the party.
