The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared at today's press conference that the protests launched by the DP constitute, according to him, the only path to overthrowing Prime Minister Edi Rama from power.
Berisha stated that opposition citizens must be clear that change will not come through violence or weapons, but through a sustainable, peaceful and daily revolt, which must continue until Rama's departure.
"This opposition has organized in its history some of the most magnificent protests and some of the most successful revolts. It has this history, it has overthrown the system of dictatorship and the 1997 regime with votes," said Berisha, adding that the opposition today, although not without potential, has remained fragmented.
According to him, the path to overthrowing the current government is not escalating the conflict, but continuous citizen pressure through peaceful protests.
However, during the press conference, Berisha made no comment on the de facto exclusion of MP Ervin Salianji from the DP leadership structures. He did not mention any concrete plan for joining forces with other opposition parties, nor any clear calendar or strategy for the opposition's further action.
The opposition's political action, according to statements so far, is expected to continue after the end-of-year holidays, but without a set date and without a publicly articulated plan.
