The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, made a somewhat strange comparison in the meeting with the Democrats in Sukth, Durrës. Speaking about the thefts of Edi Rama's administration, the leader of the Democrat Party focused on the scandal of the directors of the Municipality of Tirana, for whom he said that their thefts do not even compare to those of Enver Hoxha.
"As for the theft, what the 3 directors of the Tirana municipality have stolen, if you take all the thefts of the Politburo headed by Enver Hoxha for 46 years, there are more of the directors," he said.
To exaggerate the theft of the municipal directors, Berisha went so far as to single out Enver Hoxha as the man who was correct with the law. The DP leader said that the dictator had a 3-story house, but did not register it in the names of his children.
"Here is the back of the one who built it, he did not register 3 floors in his name, which he could have registered 20 times. No, he registered it in the name of the state. He did not leave it to his children. He built it with state money, it had facilities, but all his facilities, dear friends, taken together, do not amount to the 20-story glass hotel of the directors of Tirana," he said.
It is hypocritical and shameful to relativize the figure of Enver Hoxha just to attack the government. But it seems that Berisha has no problem portraying the dictator as a man who respected the law, while forgetting that the dictator's villa has been seized by the Qemal Biçakçiu family and it is still not known for sure whether the governments of the past 35 years have returned it to its owner.
There are plenty of ways to explain the corruption of the Rama government, but choosing this one is by exalting the name of a dictator who killed, raped, impoverished, and expelled thousands of innocent Albanians from their homes.
