For the third time in the same day, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has repeated the call for civic mobilization in the national protest of January 24.
This time, the message was conveyed after the Assembly rostrum was blocked by Democratic MPs, who then, under the leadership of Berisha, moved to deliver speeches at an improvised rostrum in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
During his speech, Berisha called on supporters and citizens to fully engage in the protest throughout the week, calling for a door-to-door mobilization in Tirana and throughout the country.
"Let's turn night into day this week, let's knock on every vote, on every door, on every heart in Tirana and everywhere," declared Berisha, describing the January 24 protest as decisive for the future of the country.
The leader of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP) harshly accused Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government of theft and abuse of public assets, using harsh political language. According to him, the government officials have enriched themselves at the expense of citizens and their taxes.
"Edi Rama is a narco-dictator who steals from Albanians from morning to night. His government officials are real leeches who deposit fabulous wealth from citizens' taxes and public assets," Berisha said.
He emphasized that, in his opinion, the country cannot have a constitution and the rule of law without the opposition's victory and a strong citizen reaction, describing the protest as a "peaceful uprising."
"It is vital, it is crucial to overthrow these criminals and bring them to justice. Albania will never have a Constitution and law without the triumph of the opposition, without the triumph of the citizens," he said.
At the end of his speech, Berisha called on citizens to fill the squares and streets of the capital, describing the protest as a confrontation between the regime and the citizens.
