Agron Gjekmarkaj, in his capacity as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, paid a visit to Hungary, where he met with his Hungarian counterpart, István Jakab, one of the leading figures of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's Fidesz party.
In the announcement of the meeting, Gjekmarkaj states that, among other things, he raised concerns about the political situation in the country, the May 11 election process and the arrest of opposition leaders, describing the moment as an important test for Albanian democracy.
"I also informed Mr. Jakab about the latest political developments in Albania, including the distortions observed in the May 11 elections, as well as the arrest of the opposition leader, Mr. Sali Berisha, and other opposition leaders during the electoral process, actions that brought an unfair advantage to the opposing side," said Gjekmarkaj.
Although the meeting held by the DP MP does not have any weight, it should be noted that he raised the problems with a representative of Viktor Orbán's party, the latter of whom is known for his friendship with Prime Minister Edi Rama. Meanwhile, the concern about the arrests of opposition leaders and the elections is the next hypocrisy that the opposition is now "exporting" through Gjekmarkaj. This is due to the fact that, when SPAK investigations go to their door, they are called a blow to the opposition, while when they go to the door of the majority, they are called a blow to corruption and the narco-government.
Regarding the elections, due to the inability to inspire Albanians to vote with worn-out figures within the party and consecutive losses, the DP has begun to boycott the elections under the pretext that they support "independent candidates" that no one knows.
Therefore, it would be more realistic for Gjekmarkaj to show his Hungarian counterpart some sarcasm from what he writes after every parliamentary session, rather than fabricating Berisha's daily statements.
