Former President Ilir Metaj completed his testimony at SPAK regarding the violent events of January 21. It was Metaj himself who asked to be questioned about the violent demonstration 15 years ago where 4 citizens were killed in front of the government building, as he claimed to have information that could serve the investigation.
The Special Prosecution responded positively to the former president's request. He gave explanations in the glass building in front of two BKH officers appointed by Special Prosecutor Alfred Shehu.
SPAK is investigating whether there was an order for the Guard to shoot on January 21. Protesters Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj, Hekuran Deda and Aleks Nika were killed in the incident. The demonstration was organized by the opposition led at the time by Edi Rama, following the publication of a suspected corruption video featuring Ilir Meta, recorded by the late former minister Dritan Prifti.
