SPAK yesterday conducted a search of four apartments owned or used by Ergys Agas, considered the leader of a criminal group that took businessman Gerond Mece hostage to force him to withdraw from complaints about AKSHIT tenders, tenders that were then won by Ermal Beqiri's companies. "During the searches, we seized materials that are of interest to the investigation," said a source close to the BKH. The same source confirmed that the equipment seized in Agas' apartments will be disassembled by experts. Cell phones that were seized from several businessmen and members of the KPP yesterday are also being examined.
SPAK struck a criminal group led by businessmen Ergys Agasi and Ermal Beqiri, who have been declared wanted on charges of "illegal competition through violence", "illegal deprivation of liberty", "criminal group" or "money laundering", etc.
The director of the National Anti-Corruption Agency (NACA), Mirlinda Karcanaj, and her deputy have been placed under house arrest, while three other businessmen have been banned from leaving the country, and the deputy director for criminal investigation at the Tirana Police, Erion Ismaili, has been suspended from his duties and banned from leaving the country.
