
The fires that have engulfed several municipalities in the south and center of the country in recent days have caused major damage to the livestock and beekeeping sectors, while the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority (AKVMB) has begun intensive monitoring of the situation on the ground.
AKVMB working groups have been deployed to the most affected areas, where they have begun recording the damage and providing first aid to farmers.
Situation by area
Tremul and Aliko villages (Aliko Administrative Unit, Finiq Municipality): Damage to pastures and olive groves has been reported, but fortunately no livestock losses. Farmers have been advised on protective measures in case of danger.
Dhivër Administrative Unit (Finiq): Fires have damaged pastures and olive groves, endangering the supply of food for livestock. Farms have been evacuated to safe areas.
Sirakat Village (Mesopotam Unit): A stable was burned, killing 4 calves. Two bee farms with a total of 197 hives (140 + 57) were also burned.
Delvina Municipality: The situation is considered serious. It is initially suspected that a farm with 25 head of cattle, as well as 9 bee parks with over 500 hives, was burned. Monitoring continues.
Villages of Skënderbegas, Arunas, Shëmbërdhenja, Bletës and Kullollas: 9 cattle, 95 sheep and 50 beehives burned have been reported. Teams are on the ground for further identification and burial of dead animals according to veterinary protocols. So far, 39 cattle and sheep have been buried.
