The fire situation in the Poliçan municipality has gotten out of control in the Tërpan Administrative Unit. The fire has reached large proportions and is continuing to spread.
The fire is very close to homes and is threatening to burn down surrounding villages. A few hours ago, the municipality of Poliçan evacuated residents of the villages of Vokopolë, Zhapokike, Plasnik and Panarit, as well as residents of areas within the Ballolli Protected Reserve.
Numerous firefighting forces, military forces, and police forces have gone to the fire area, while a helicopter from the Kuçova Air Base has also gone to assist them in extinguishing the fire from the air.
The terrain where the fire broke out is mountainous and extremely difficult, making it impossible for firefighting and military vehicles to enter as there are no roads. This has led to the intervention in the area being carried out with emergency vehicles and backpack water pumps. Although the flames have been fought for several hours, the situation is very difficult.
