The Shkodra Prosecution Office is investigating several leads to shed light on the motive for the murder of Hysni Ymer in Shkodra on December 29, 2025, through the remote-controlled explosion of a mine mounted on the electrical panel at the entrance to the building where he lived.
The strongest lead being investigated is that of a murder for revenge motives, as Hysni Ymeri's brother was suspected of murdering citizen Shefqet Çekorja in 1995. He was later acquitted. The prosecution is also investigating the 2017 incident where Dritan Ymeri, cousin of the victim Hysni Ymeri, was one of the suspected perpetrators of the murder of doctor Ilir Aliaj.
After the incident, Dritan Ymeri fled abroad. Sources at the prosecution said that other leads are not being ruled out and the victim's son, who lives abroad, is also being verified. 4 suspects have been arrested for the incident, Gert Bushati, Gjergj Zefi, Ergys Ibrahimi, Edison Hasaj, against whom the Shkodra Court imposed the measure of "prison arrest".
