The General Directorate of Prisons has officially reacted to statements made in the media by the Tirana Municipal Council, describing as untrue the claims about delays in the transfer of Erion Veliaj from the Durrës Penitentiary Institution to the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime.
According to the press release, the Prison Police notified citizen EV in a timely manner about the preparation and departure for the court session, while the escort vehicles were present at the premises of the prison within the scheduled time.
At the time of the announcement, the Directorate of Prisons emphasizes, Erion Veliaj refused to come out, claiming that the Prison Police vehicle was delayed. This claim, according to the institution, is unfounded.
The General Directorate of Prisons also explains that for any delay or change in schedule, the court chancellery is officially notified and that there has been no obstacle on its part to the normal development of the judicial process.
