
A 29-year-old man from Puka has been arrested by police, suspected of transporting narcotics, explosives and ammunition by boat to Tropoja, with the aim of trafficking them to Kosovo.
The police operation codenamed "Varkëtari" was organized and finalized by the Kukës DVP services, in cooperation with the Tropojë Police Commissariat and with the support of the "Eagle" Special Force, following information that a citizen would transport a quantity of narcotics and explosives to Kosovo.
As a result of the operation, citizen LP, 29 years old, resident of Puka, was arrested in flagrante delicto. The police inform that during the search in the village of Dushaj, the citizen was driving a “Volkswagen” vehicle, in which he had hidden in the trunk: 1.2 kilograms of cannabis, 405 grams of TNT, 51 detonator capsules, 5 meters of fire-retardant fuse, combat ammunition, as well as a quantity of lek.
It is learned that the seized items were suspected to have been transported by boat across the lake, from the village of Apripë, Pukë, to Tropojë, where the vehicle was parked with the aim of avoiding police control.
In cooperation with the Prosecution Office and Kosovo counterparts, work continues to clarify and fully document this case, with the aim of identifying and apprehending the person who would purchase these items in Kosovo. The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution Office for further action.
