A Kosovo Police operation led to the seizure of 21 kilograms of drugs, while the perpetrator managed to escape arrest by fleeing towards Albanian territory.
The incident occurred yesterday evening, at around 8:30 p.m., on the green border line between Kosovo and Albania, in the Vermica area. According to sources, a suspected drug trafficker, who was carrying a backpack, encountered officers of the anti-drug unit who were on an operation and in civilian clothes.
When the police officers were introduced, the suspect pointed a gun at them, endangering their lives. He then abandoned the bag and quickly fled towards Albanian territory.
During the search of the bag left at the scene, a significant amount of narcotics was found. Measurements by the anti-drug unit confirmed that it was about 21 kilograms of marijuana.
Kosovo Police have launched investigations and are cooperating with Albanian authorities to apprehend the perpetrator.
