Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the meeting in Aruba between several organized crime figures, where it is alleged that representatives of the Rama government were also present in 2019.
Journalist Lala provided some details from the investigations that have been conducted in Belgium, from where information about this meeting emerged.
"I learned about it for the first time, based on a leaked document from the Belgian authorities. There is a court process there, Black Eagle, where a group of Albanian criminals and cocaine traffickers were investigated. This group was investigated and was being tried by a Belgian court, not only by Sky ECC, but also other evidence. For the first time, I also sent the link and the articles today, in that article I came across, there was talk of a meeting in Aruba, where a considerable number of the criminal world and Albanians participated.
The Belgian media identified as the most representative figure, Artur Shehu, a Vlora resident living in the USA, the central figure. The second person Alfredo Hamzaj and several other people. The names of the politicians are not identified, but their identities are given. Artur Shehu is active in Albania, but lives in the USA. He has obtained a building permit and is a central figure regarding the alienation of properties in Vlora, but this should be investigated by the authorities. He is investigating in the USA but does not exclude him from connections in Albania.
There are two essential moments in this meeting, one moment that has to do with a gift, a 400 thousand euro watch, that is said to have been given to a politician and that can be traced. The second part, there is talk about building permits. I think that is the essence, tracing the building permits that people associated with them may have received.
On the other hand, if the connections are investigated, light can be shed on what was discussed and what happened at that meeting.
This issue came back to the fore because an Italian journalist published a book about this meeting. But this event has been known since the Black Eagle trial.
In the Black Eagle file, there are the names and identities of politicians. This is what the authorities say. If the Albanian prosecution is interested in investigating it, it can turn to the Belgians. This story is making noise, because drug trafficking is considered a priority in the EU and the USA.
"We should be concerned about the fact that they gathered in a meeting and talked about construction permits," Lala said.
