Bankers Petroleum oil workers, organized by the representative union, protested again today, demanding that the company's current contract not be extended without first signing a new agreement that guarantees their rights.
With banners in their hands and calls for more transparency, the protesters warned that they are ready to stop work if their demands are not taken into account.
"The strike means that we no longer work and we cross our arms. You are asking for a contract from the state, you want this company's subscription to be extended, but you will not have it. Be assured that there will be no more contracts. It can only be given to us. A new agreement is needed with us," the oil workers said during the protest.
According to them, the lack of transparency over existing contracts and institutional silence regarding the future agreement is pushing them towards a general strike.
There has been no public reaction from Bankers Petroleum at this time. Meanwhile, the union has warned that the strike will escalate in the coming days if no concrete action is taken by the authorities or the company.
