A 38-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with complicity in the robbery at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris. She is accused of “organized theft in collaboration” and “criminal conspiracy,” following a wide-ranging investigation involving French police and special units against organized crime.
According to French media, the court has ordered the suspect to remain in custody while investigations continue to fully unravel the incident. Her arrest was carried out earlier this week, along with four other people suspected of involvement in the robbery. Two of those arrested have “partially admitted” their participation in the incident, while another person remains at large.
The robbery took place on October 19, 2025, shortly after the museum opened its doors to visitors. Four masked men, according to police sources, entered the Apollo Gallery – one of the Louvre’s most popular spaces – through a balcony overlooking the Seine River. They used a stolen mechanical elevator to get inside, smashed the security glass and stole jewelry worth an estimated 88 million euros.
The entire operation, according to security cameras, lasted only four minutes. After the robbery, the perpetrators fled on two scooters that were waiting for them outside the building and lost track of them on the streets of Paris. Although the police have arrested some of the suspects, the stolen jewelry has not yet been found. Investigators are checking the possibility that they were transported outside France through an international trafficking network.
The October 19 robbery is considered one of the most sophisticated in the last decade in Europe, both for the manner of execution and the staggering value of the stolen objects. Investigations are expected to continue in the coming days to identify all those involved and recover the stolen jewelry.
