Against Erzen Uka and Julian Cumraku, suspected of extremist acts, the prosecution has so far only formalized the charge of illegal possession of weapons. There is still no certainty regarding the purpose and reason for their presence in the apartment where weapons, ammunition, and an ISIS flag hanging on the wall were found, an apartment in which they had been staying for at least several weeks.
It seems that the Police's claims that a gunshot was fired from inside the tower in Orosh, Fushë-Arrëzit, at the moment when the Puka Police Station officers were calling for the surrender of Erzen Uka (Hamza Uka) and Julian Cumraku (otherwise known as Hamza Uka and Adem Cumraku) have been answered. Criminal experts engaged in the investigation of the "Oroshi" operation have found gunpowder residue on the hands and clothes of Uka, a former commando with military experience in Iraq and Afghanistan during the 2000s, who later converted to a radical Muslim and supporter of ISIS.
At least one bullet fired from inside the apartment was found during the scene investigation, after Uka and Cumraku surrendered.
The State Police have not yet clarified the circumstances of the injury of Erzen Uka, who after surrender was transported to the Shkodra regional hospital with a bullet wound to his right leg. His lawyer suspects that the wound was caused by RENEA forces, a claim that the police have so far denied.
Suspicions against them began by chance, during an anti-cannabis operation by the Puka Police, when Julian Cumraku quickly left the scene and hid in the tower where it later turned out that Erzen Uka, previously sentenced to three years in prison for the charge of "inciting religious hatred", was also present.
