Special Judge Erjon Çela has been appointed by electronic lottery to review in a preliminary session and decide whether or not to proceed to trial the criminal file against former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, his partner, Erjola Hoxha, ex-wife Albina Mançka and 8 other defendants.
Ahmetaj is accused by SPAK of corruption in 5 cases, concealment of assets in 15 cases, and money laundering in 10 cases.
According to SPAK, he has benefited from bribes from the actual owners of the Tirana incinerator, Mirel Mërtiri and Klodian Zoto, who are also defendants in the same criminal case as the former number 2 of the government. Arben Ahmetaj is in Switzerland with political asylum status.
