For several days, the e-Albania platform has been facing a serious technical blockage, which has had consequences for everyone: citizens inside and outside Albania, but also businesses.
The system does not display available dates for reservations, for services such as passport applications, consular services, and procedures related to the National Business Center (NBC), such as registrations, changes to data, or official company documents.
Chain of confusion
The blocking of the e-Albania platform has created a chain of confusion. Consulates say that applications for passport renewal are made only through e-Albania, there is no other way.
The e-Albania platform states that the schedules are full or the system is blocked and refers citizens to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tirana asks citizens to wait for a "second moment", without a concrete deadline.
Meanwhile, the consulates themselves have admitted that the system is frozen due to an unforeseen technical defect, which is unknown for how long.
Entire country blocked online
The main problem is not just the technical defect, but the lack of a backup plan: when the single platform goes down, the entire online state is blocked.
The result: citizens who cannot renew their documents, and businesses that cannot carry out basic legal procedures, with real financial and administrative consequences.
Delicate moment
This blockage comes at a delicate moment for state digital systems, following previous incidents that have hit the infrastructure of the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI), which administers the state's main electronic platforms, cases that have also been subject to verification by SPAK. /DW/
