The serious incident that shook Tepelena on the morning of September 27 continues to reveal new dramatic episodes. The victim, 44-year-old Italian Eduardo Sarchi, was shot dead from a distance of about 120 meters in the area of the village of Salari, by Kamber Sulçe, 48, who is still on the run.
Meanwhile, media sources report that everything started after a banal conflict over the high beams of vehicles. Sulçe verbally clashed with Gazmend Braçi, the son of Sarch's partner, and then exploded into armed aggression.
The young man's shocking testimony: "He was shooting at us from afar, Eduardo was killed while closing the door"
In his testimony to investigators, Braçi said that after the collision with the perpetrator, his car was left on the road without fuel. He called his father for help, who arrived with Sarch in two different vehicles.
"At that moment, Kamberi started shooting in the air and cursing from a distance. At one point he started shooting in our direction. Eduardo was closing the car door to avoid being seen, when he was shot and fell to the ground. It was a moment of panic. We lay on our stomachs and didn't move until the police arrived," Braçi confessed.
Another witness who was at the scene claimed that the attack lasted over 20 minutes with occasional interruptions, creating a state of anxiety and fear among those present.
Perpetrator identified by cameras – police suspect accomplices
Thanks to security camera footage and collected evidence, authorities were able to identify Kamber Sulçe as the suspected perpetrator of the crime. His vehicle, a white Ford, was found abandoned between the villages of Nivicë and Bolënë, in the territory of Vlora.
Police suspect that Sulçe received help from other people to flee immediately after the crime, making it difficult to locate him. Investigations have intensified in several southern regions of the country, while authorities are using drones and special forces to control remote mountainous areas.
Appeal from the family and Italian authorities
The family of the Italian businessman has arrived in Albania and has demanded justice for the brutal murder of the 44-year-old, who had been operating in the tourism and agribusiness fields in southern Albania for several years. Italian authorities have expressed high interest in the investigations and are in constant contact with the Albanian Police.
