Maks Haxhia, Ergys Agas's lawyer, appeared this Tuesday at the premises of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) to retrieve documents related to his client.
In a statement to the media, Haxhia said that the investigative file has been distributed to the media, while he and his client have not yet officially received it. According to him, there is no evidence in the SPAK file that proves Agas's involvement in the tender field or in kidnapping.
The lawyer announced that Ergys Agasi is currently abroad, where he is concluding a business deal, and that once he returns to Albania he will face justice. He emphasized that Agasi will surrender himself and will maintain his position before the justice authorities.
Haxhia also stated that releasing the file data to the media compromises the investigative process and that, according to him, conclusions are being drawn from politics and the opposition, not from evidence.
Referring to the case of Gerond Meçe, who was allegedly taken hostage and threatened to withdraw from complaints about AKSHI tenders, Haxhia said that Agasi has no acquaintance with this person and has not benefited from tenders from the state budget.
"There is no evidence that Mr. Agasi was involved in tenders or has any connection to the person who is alleged to have been deprived of his liberty," the lawyer said.
