Two Albanian citizens who were internationally wanted with Interpol red cards have been arrested in England by British authorities. British media reports indicate that the arrested are Eduart Elezi, 28, and Xhuljano Hoxha, 30, wanted by Germany and Albania respectively for criminal offences related to the cultivation of cannabis.
Eduart Elezi, 28, appeared before a British court on Wednesday after the German authorities issued an international arrest warrant against him. His arrest was carried out by the Metropolitan Police Extradition Unit.
Elezi is accused by the German justice system of involvement in the cultivation of cannabis, a criminal offense for which the authorities are seeking his extradition to Germany. The next court hearing to consider the extradition request is scheduled for February 16, 2026, where the final decision on his surrender to the German authorities is expected to be made. Another Albanian citizen, Xhuljano Hoxha, 30, who is wanted by Interpol Tirana and was also arrested by the Metropolitan Police in London, appeared in the same court today. Hoxha is wanted by the Albanian justice system for the cultivation of narcotics (cannabis), and an international arrest warrant has been issued against him within the framework of international police cooperation.
However, the process of extradition of Hoxha to Albania will not begin immediately. He is currently facing another criminal case in British territory. According to court documents, on November 20, 2025, Hoxha will appear before the Manchester Magistrates' Court, where he will learn the extent of the sentence for a criminal offense committed in the English state. Only after the completion of this process will the request for his extradition to Albania be considered.
British authorities have recently intensified cooperation with Interpol and European law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest internationally wanted persons hiding in the territory of the United Kingdom.
