Israeli authorities prevented Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre during Palm Sunday ceremonies. According to international media reports, police imposed tight security measures in the Old City, preventing several clerics and believers from entering the church.
The event has sparked reactions and criticism from representatives of the Catholic Church and several international officials, who described the situation as worrying, given the great religious importance of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the place where, according to Christian tradition, Jesus Christ was crucified and buried.
