The Democratic Party of Kosovo has conditioned the continuation of work in the Assembly on the treatment of the Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on Specialized Chambers of Kosovo.
PDK MP, Blerta Deliu-Kodra, stated on the show "DPT te Fidani" on Klan Kosova that the party's parliamentary group will not participate in the proceedings of the Assembly on other issues, without first introducing and discussing the law on Specialized Chambers.
"None of our MPs will be in the Assembly without discussing the law that we have requested. It is an initiative that responds to the need that Kosovo has today," said Deliu-Kodra.
She emphasized that the initiative is also related to financial and institutional support for former KLA leaders who are facing trial in The Hague.
According to her, PDK has expected the Kosovo Government to take concrete steps and not just express political support through declarations.
"We expected that at least the Government, in cases like this, would not only demonstrate its political will with a statement, but when the foundations of the state are violated, a normal government should not only behave seriously, but also demonstrate full support," she stated.
Deliu-Kodra considered the issue of the law on Special as a priority, linking it to institutional support for former KLA leaders.
The PDK MP also criticized the government and Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz for the delays in processing the draft law. She claimed that the procedures for obtaining opinions from experts could push the process beyond the October 6 deadline.
This issue has become one of the main topics of political debate in Kosovo in recent days. The PDK has requested that the draft law be processed as soon as possible in the Assembly, while on September 29, MP Përparim Gruda requested that it be sent for approval before October 6, arguing that the Assembly could be dissolved after that date.
A day earlier, Deliu-Kodra had called on Minister Gërvalla to proceed with the draft law in the Government, so that it could then be passed to the Assembly for a vote. She said that 99 MPs from different parties had voted in favor of a statement regarding the war of the KLA and its former leaders in The Hague, demanding that this political stance be followed by institutional action.
