The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, has stated that political developments after September 16 have created a new situation, which, according to him, will also be taken into consideration in determining the PDK's position on the election of the President.
After the PDK Steering Council meeting, Hamza was asked whether the party would change its stance on the President, in light of the new political circumstances created after September 16.
Hamza said that the country is now in a different situation and that the PDK will adapt its positions depending on developments and state interest.
"We are in new circumstances. We are in new circumstances, we are in a new state, a state that is not only about the past, it is not about individuals, it is about the state and it is about the future of the state," Hamza declared.
He added that precisely on the basis of these circumstances, PDK may change or adapt its positions on issues related to the future and stability of Kosovo.
"And based on these new circumstances, we normally change and adapt our positions on issues that have to do with the future and stability of the state," said the PDK leader.
Asked whether PDK would support a candidate for President proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement, Hamza did not give a concrete answer, emphasizing that he does not want to comment on hypothetical scenarios without a concrete proposal being presented.
"I can't talk about hypothetical circumstances before this topic comes up," said Hamza.
The PDK leader also announced that he is ready to continue communication and meetings with the leaders of political parties, emphasizing that he has already held meetings with the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, and the leader of the AAK, Ardian Gjini.
"I have met and am ready to meet, I have met with the leaders of three political parties, with Mr. Kurti, with Mr. Abdixhiku, and with Mr. Gjini, I am in communication and it is quite normal that on such important, challenging and important topics for the country there should be meetings," declared Hamza.
Hamza's statements signal that PDK is leaving its stance on the presidential election process open, while political developments after September 16 may affect the position the party will hold going forward.
