The Speaker of Iran's Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that the Iranian armed forces are on alert for a possible American ground intervention, warning that any such operation would face a harsh reaction from Tehran.
According to Iranian state media, Ghalibaf said the Iranian military "expects" a ground offensive by the United States, adding that in the event of an escalation, Iran will strike not only American troops but also Washington's regional partners.
The statement comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East have increased significantly, while reports from several international media outlets speak of the deployment of additional American forces in the region and possible preparations for expanded military operations.
According to reports by international agencies such as Reuters and the Associated Press, the US has sent additional naval units and amphibious vehicles to the Middle East in recent weeks, as part of the escalating conflict with Iran and its allies.
Ghalibaf accused Washington of publicly talking about negotiations while secretly preparing a military operation on the ground. According to him, this approach only increases the risk of a direct clash in the region.
Analysts warn that a US ground intervention against Iran would constitute an unprecedented escalation of the conflict and could involve several Middle Eastern countries in the war, increasing the risk of a wider regional and economic crisis.
