US forces have carried out large-scale airstrikes on Iranian military targets on the strategic Kharg Island, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said, adding that more than 90 military targets were successfully hit.
According to the US military, the attacks targeted naval mine depots, missile storage shelters and other military infrastructure. The operation, according to US authorities, was aimed at protecting oil infrastructure and ensuring security in the region.
In parallel with the military developments, US President Donald Trump warned that oil infrastructure on Kharg Island could be hit if Iran does not stop attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also announced that they had carried out attacks on strategic facilities in Iran, including the main research center of the Iranian Space Agency. According to the IDF, the target contained research laboratories used for the development of military satellites, intelligence gathering and coordination of military operations in the Middle East.
The IDF also announced that several factories of the Iranian regime's air defense systems were hit, including a factory considered key for the production of these systems.
