A 38-page strategic document titled "From a Ruined Iranian Protectorate to a Prosperous Ally" is circulating in the administration of US President Donald Trump, proposing a new vision for the Gaza Strip after the conflict.
According to the Washington Post, the plan, drafted by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), envisions direct American intervention to manage and rebuild the area for at least 10 years. It includes temporarily relocating Palestinians, providing financial assistance to those who agree to leave, and transforming Gaza into an industrial and tourist hub.
The proposal provides for payments of up to $5,000, rental subsidies and food assistance to residents who accept relocation, while landowners are offered digital vouchers for reconstruction. The document is known as the “Gaza Reconstruction, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust” and is accompanied by the slogan: “From a ruined Iranian protectorate to a prosperous Abrahamic ally.”
President Trump declared on February 4 that the US should "take control" of Gaza and turn it into a "river of the Middle East," comments that have prompted strong reactions from Palestinians and humanitarian organizations, which warn of the risk of a forced population displacement.
Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains tense. Israeli forces have intensified attacks on the outskirts of Gaza City, causing widespread destruction and new displacement of civilians, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet is considering a plan to take full control of the city.
