British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has issued a strong warning to migrants illegally entering the United Kingdom via the English Channel, vowing that he will no longer tolerate illegal entries.
In a post on the "X" platform (formerly Twitter), Starmer stressed that any person attempting to enter Britain in this way will be stopped and turned back.
“I am clear: We will not reward illegal entry. If you cross the Channel illegally, you will be stopped and turned back,” he wrote.
The statement comes at a critical time, as the number of migrants crossing the Channel by dinghy has reached record levels. Public and political pressure on the government to stop the use of hotels as shelters for asylum seekers is also growing.
According to Sky News reports, small protests have appeared outside several hotels in different areas of the country, as a sign of dissatisfaction with the housing of immigrants in these structures.
Starmer has stressed that his government is determined to end this practice and stop the use of illegal routes to enter Britain, promising tough measures to stem the flow of irregular migrants.
