
The United States will host a second meeting of Lebanese and Israeli envoys.
Beirut is seeking to extend a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. The development comes a day after Israeli strikes killed at least five people, including a journalist.
A US-brokered ceasefire, due to expire on Sunday, has led to a significant reduction in violence. However, attacks continue in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces have unilaterally occupied a security zone.
On the other hand, Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that it had carried out four operations in southern Lebanon, claiming that they were in response to Israeli attacks.
