Former Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi has died after failing to survive serious injuries sustained during an airstrike in Tehran.
According to Iranian media, Kharazi had been in critical condition in hospital since last week after being seriously injured in a bombing of his apartment. He served as Iran's foreign minister from 1997 to 2005 and was also an adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The airstrike occurred on April 1, as part of a series of strikes reported to have been carried out by the US and Israel on targets in Tehran.
During the same bombing, the Kharazi family's house was also hit, where in addition to his injury, the former chief diplomat's wife also lost her life.
