A 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler Robinson, has been arrested by the FBI on suspicion of being the perpetrator of the sniper attack on political activist Charlie Kirk, an event that occurred on Wednesday at the University of Utah.
According to sources in the investigation, one of the bullets used in the assassination was engraved with the phrase “Bella Ciao”, a detail that raises many questions about the motives and intentions of the author. It has not yet been clarified whether this was the bullet that fatally struck Kirk. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed the arrest during a television interview, adding that Robinson had confessed to the crime to his father, who then convinced his son to surrender. Investigators are also analyzing posts by the suspect on the Discord platform, where he spoke of a detailed plan to kill Kirk.
Security footage shows the suspect arriving at the campus in a Dodge Challenger about four hours before the shooting. He was seen wearing plain clothes — a brown T-shirt, light shorts, a black hat with a white logo, and colorful sneakers. Utah Governor Spencer Cox said Robinson’s clothing matched what was seen on security cameras during his arrest.
Further investigations into the motives and circumstances of the shooting are ongoing, as federal and local authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine who was responsible and the exact mechanisms of the incident.
