Another piece of evidence has become part of the investigation file for the serious incident of August 18 in Ksamil, where Portuguese tourist Luis Miguel Varela Mendez lost his life.
Armando Zeneli, DJ at the "Principote" discotheque, testified before investigators and was questioned as a person who had knowledge of the circumstances of the incident.
Zeneli said that at around 5:00 a.m. he saw security guards running towards the club's entrance. A little later, in the restaurant area, some of his colleagues, concerned, asked him to pick up Sokrat Vata and take him to the hospital, as he had a vehicle nearby.
According to the testimony, Vata was bleeding and had his hand on his stomach. He asked Zeneli several times to urgently transport him to the hospital.
The DJ first notified the manager and then went to get the vehicle. As he left the bar, he saw several tourists helping a person lying on the ground.
Then, Vata got into the back of the car and the two headed towards the Ksamil health center. However, along the way, Vata asked Zeneli to continue driving and, after about two or three minutes, on a cobblestone road, asked him to stop.
According to Zenel's testimony, Vata got out of the vehicle and ran away, barefoot. DJ also stated that, a few meters away from the car, he saw him forcefully throw an object to the ground.
Shocked by the situation, Zeneli fled to his apartment. Later, after calming down, he called the police, offering the authorities cooperation in identifying and capturing Sokrat Vata.
The DJ's testimony is now part of the materials on which investigators are working to reconstruct the full dynamics of the event that ended with the death of the Portuguese tourist.
