US President Donald Trump surprised attendees at the White House Correspondents' Dinner by appearing in a red hat with the inscription "Trump 2028", a move that was interpreted as a signal of his intention for a third term at the head of the United States.
At the end of his speech, which lasted a little over an hour, Trump declared:
“This is my goal. This is my goal for a third term as president of the United States. We're going to do it. We're going to have some fun. I won. I won three times. Now I'm going to do it again.”
Speaking about the possibility of a new run, he added: "I'll do it. It should be easy."
According to reports, the US president's statements were met with silence for several moments by those present in the hall.
"I'm getting very good at running for president. You'll have time to talk about that. It's interesting when you come back and do a good job, like we did. Because the situation is really, really bad," Trump said.
At the end of his speech, he changed his tone, thanking those present.
"But, seriously, I want to thank you all again. It was an interesting evening," he said.
A little later, the song "YMCA", one of Trump's favorite songs, was played in the hall, while the American president accompanied the music with his characteristic dance.
