A group of German investors, including football stars Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer and Lucas Hernandez, has bought 90 percent of the shares of Portuguese club Estrela da Amadora.
The deal is worth 40 million euros, considered the most expensive sale in the history of a SAD, a sports joint-stock company in Portuguese football.
The investor group is led by ADvantage and LEAD funds, with support from KI Group, while the four footballers are part of the project's strategic investors.
The Portuguese club has announced that the new shareholder structure brings together investors with experience in sports, investment and technology, along with well-known figures in international football.
Following the change of ownership, there will also be changes in the club's management. Johannes Mosmang, a 35-year-old German entrepreneur, will take over as president of Estrela da Amadoras, succeeding Paul Lop, who has led the club since 2020.
Estrela da Amadora in its current form was founded in 2020, following the merger of Clube Desportivo Estrela and Clube Sintra Football. The club has experienced a rapid rise, rising from the fourth tier of Portuguese football to the Primeira Liga, where it has competed since 2023.
With an investment of 40 million euros and with four well-known names in European football now part of the ownership, Estrela aims to build a more ambitious project and consolidate itself in the elite of Portuguese football.
