DP MP, Jorida Tabaku, seems not to have wanted to leave politics out even during her visit to the Zvërnec Monastery, where she was together with Albanian MPs and MEPs.
Hosted by the priest of the Church of St. Mary, Father Jan Tereziu, the attendees were introduced to the history of the Monastery and its premises. But the visit took another turn when Tabaku decided to raise the issue of the investments foreseen in the Zvërnec area, stating that it was precisely for this topic that he had arrived there together with his colleagues from the European Parliament.
"This is a place of God. This has been kept and preserved by God even in difficult times of communism. Now I believe you have followed the debate about this investment, because we have come for that work with colleagues from the European Parliament," said Tabaku.
The attempt to shift the discussion from the history of the Monastery to a political debate did not go without a reaction. One of the attendees intervened, reminding the MP that "politics are not done inside the church."
Tabaku insisted that he was not playing politics, but was merely asking a question, wanting to know if Church representatives had been consulted about the investment, due to its proximity to the area.
Father Jan Tereziu's answer was clear and did not leave much room for further debate.
"I want to thank you for the question, but within the church premises, especially in an absolute way, but also outside in Manastir, such conversations do not take place," he said.
Thus, Tabaku's attempt at political protagonism even within the house of God did not receive the priest's "blessing." Perhaps this episode will serve as a reminder to the DP MP that the usual political rhetoric in front of the cameras that accompany her almost everywhere cannot be used indiscriminately.
