A fire with fatal consequences has been reported in neighborhood no. 13 of the city of Korça, where a 70-year-old woman died inside her apartment as a result of smoke inhalation.
The victim has been identified as Fluturie Potka. Sources indicate that the elderly woman was paralyzed and lived alone, which made it impossible to react in time to escape the flames.
According to preliminary information, it is suspected that the fire was caused by an electric blanket that the elderly woman was using to keep warm. It is learned that the 70-year-old also suffered burns to her body, while the main cause of death is suspected to be smoke asphyxiation.
Firefighters and police arrived at the scene, extinguished the flames and are working to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
