Albania followed the same trend as most European countries during 2024, ranking "Temu" as the most downloaded application.
Data published by Maps Interlude shows that the Chinese online commerce platform has dominated the European market, including our country, thanks to frequent offers and low prices, which have attracted a large number of users.
In the region, the situation appears diverse; in Serbia, the financial app "AllRecovery" has led, while in Montenegro, "Tiktok".
In Europe, “Temu” has been the leading app in almost all major countries such as France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Notable exceptions are Italy, where “TikTok” was the most downloaded, Belgium with “Klarna” and Switzerland, Austria where “ChatGPT” has led.
The fact that “Temu” is the most downloaded application in Albania also shows that the local market is following the trend of European consumers, increasingly orienting itself towards online shopping and platforms that offer massive discounts. According to data obtained from the head of the Albanian Electronic Commerce Association in Albania, TEMU deliveries in our country have reached 15 thousand packages per day, for the period in question June 2025. It currently constitutes 1/3 of the online delivery market. According to data from the Bank of Albania, e-commerce transactions have increased by 30% every year.
Temu is a Chinese-owned online sales platform, launched in 2022 by PDD Holdings, that offers a wide range of products, from fashion and electronics to home goods, at significantly low prices.
17 European countries had “Temu” as the main downloaded application. Another 11 downloaded “Chat GPT”, although the latter was only introduced at the end of 2024. “ChatGPT” is a model developed by OpenAI, introduced to the public in November 2022.
