Residents of Martanesh have come out today in protest against interventions in the area's water resources, opposing the project of the firm "Teodori 2003", which according to them is trying to divert the waters of Lake Sopa, part of the Mati watershed. According to the residents, this process would cause serious environmental consequences and would leave four villages in the area without water.
The residents' protest was also joined by representatives of the BASHKË Movement, who declared support for the community and described the situation as an “environmental crime.” In their speech, they accused the government and local authorities of collaborating with oligarchic interests, warning of an escalation of protests at the national level.
"This project is a robbery of natural resources and will condemn the villages of Martanesh to drought. Our call is for unity and immediate protests, including in front of the Prime Minister's Office, to stop this process," said representatives of the Movement.
Residents and their supporters demanded the intervention of institutions to stop the project, warning that protests will continue until the area's water resources are fully protected.
