The increase in oil prices has directly affected the increase in public transport ticket prices in the four cities of Dibër District. According to operators, intercity lines are the ones that have experienced the greatest increase.
For example, a Peshkopi – Tirana ticket, which previously cost 500 lek, has now gone up to 600 lek. From Bulqiza to Tirana the price has increased from 300 lek to 400 lek per passenger, while for the Burrel – Tirana line the ticket has gone up from 400 lek to 500 lek.
Citizens say that this increase directly affects their family budget, making it more difficult for pensioners and those receiving economic assistance. "The ticket has increased by 1 thousand lek. We have no way to pay. We are just a husband and wife with a pension. I just want to get a mule now!", says a resident.
Transportation from villages to city centers has also experienced price increases, although to a lesser extent compared to intercity lines. Citizens are demanding state intervention and compensation for the increase in services and products.
