The Institute for Freedom and Heritage published today the summary report of a national study on citizens’ attitudes towards the draft law “On Gender Equality” (2025), which is currently being discussed in the public and institutional arena.
This report, based on the largest survey ever conducted on this topic in Albania, includes responses from 10,010 citizens from all regions of the country. With a margin of error of only ±1.2% and a confidence level of 95%, the report aims to provide a clear and reliable picture of public opinion.
Main findings of the study:
97.6% of respondents define gender as biological male and female, rejecting the concept of "gender identities" as a social construct.
99% of citizens consider the traditional family (man, woman, and children) to be the foundation of Albanian society.
96% are against replacing the terms "mother" and "father" with "Parent 1 / Parent 2", citing this as potential confusion for children.
95.7% reject the introduction of gender education in schools, which they see as ideological indoctrination, not as education for equality.
92.1% are against same-sex marriage and adoption, even if this were a condition for Albania's EU membership.
85% demand that the government focus more on protecting the family and increasing fertility, rather than on promoting gender policies.
94% of citizens demand that laws affecting moral and family values be approved only through popular referendums, not just through parliamentary decisions.
