Pedagogist Xhoi Jakaj, known for her role as the mayor in the film "Palace 69", has declared that she is ready to run for the Municipality of Tirana.
Invited to the show "Our Day", Jakaj said that he has aspired for years to engage in politics and that he believes that the country's main cities should be led by non-partisan figures.
"Why not? It would be great. I have aspired to participate in politics for years. I have been away from politics for a while and maybe you have to be very active in politics to be seen as a character. But I think that Tirana, Shkodra, Vlora and Durrës should have a non-partisan mayor," she said.
Jakaj also revealed that she was once on the list of possible candidates for the Municipality of Puka, her hometown, adding with humor that she would "make it more beautiful than Tirana" thanks to the climate, water, and simple and generous people of the area.
"I threw it away, let whoever wants take it. It depends on whether they see me as a possible candidate," she said.
Xhoi Jakaj, who is the mother of the famous model Oriola Marashi, closed with a clear message: if she is seen as a serious alternative, she is ready to challenge political reality, as she has interpreted it in the cinema.
